Comparing Noah’s Ark to Salvation

Salvation = saved from the penalty of sin forever, saved from the pattern and habit of sin while in the world and one day saved from the very presence of sin.

1) What was the condition of man at the time of the flood in Noah’s day?

Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 11The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

2) What is the condition of man today?

Romans 3:23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

3) Who was saved during the judgment of the flood?

Genesis 7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

4) Who will be saved from eternal judgment?

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

5) How did Noah and his family get into the ark?

Genesis 6:16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. 17And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 18But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. 19And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 21And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

6) How can you and I enter into salvation according to Jesus?

John 10:9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

7) How long will God hold off judgment in our day?

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Questions about the Rapture

1) Is the word “rapture’ found in the Bible?

No that word is not in the Bible.

2) What does the word ‘rapture’ mean?

The word is derived from a Latin word meaning ‘caught away’ or ‘snatched away’ and is used in the context of scriptures prophesying Jesus Christ’s return to earth for His church.

3) When the rapture occurs what will happen to the bodies of believers who have already died?

1 Thessalonians 4: 13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

4)  When the rapture occurs what will happen to those believers still alive at the rapture?

1 Thessalonians 4:17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

5) What event does the Bible declare must occur first before the rapture?

None

6) How quickly will the rapture occur?

1 Corinthians 15:51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul’s admonition to the church at Thessalonica- 1 Thessalonians 4: 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Pauls’ admonition to the church at Corinth – 1 Corinthians 15: 58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Jesus’ encouragement to believers – John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.  5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Maybe today – Frank and Flora Jean Garlock, 1976
My Lord will come, it may be soon, It could be morning, night or noon;
Till then I’ll watch and work and pray, When He comes, I’ll go home, there to stay.

 Chorus
Maybe today, my Lord will come for me, Maybe today, my Savior I shall see;
Maybe today from sin I shall be free, Jesus will come, and I will go home,
It may be today.

My Lord will come, I know not when, But this is sure, He’ll come again;
With eager eyes I look for Him, In His presence new joy will begin.

We’ll sing His praise, forever more, When we have entered heaven’s door;
Redeemed from all our sin and strife, There we’ll know perfect love, endless life.

7 Questions about the Lord Jesus’ Kingdom on earth

1) How long will the Lord Jesus’ kingdom on earth last?

Revelation 20:4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

2) How will the animals be different during the Lord Jesus’ kingdom on earth?

Isaiah 11:6The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.7And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

3) What will children do that they cannot do now?

Isaiah 11: 8And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

4) Will there be sadness during the Lord Jesus’ kingdom on earth?

Isaiah 65:18But be ye glad and rejoice forever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. 19And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

5) Will some people be hurt during the Lord Jesus’ kingdom on earth?

Isaiah 65:25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

6) What does God say about the serpent? nothing

7) How bright will the sun be during the Lord Jesus’ kingdom on earth?

Isaiah 30:26Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

Notice the sun is brighter not hotter.

The book of Isaiah was written n the 8th century BC and the book of Revelation was written 1st century AD. Jesus wants you and me to know His plan and to be ready. Jesus is coming again!

Learning to Develop Biblical Goals

Paul’s personal growth goals are documented in Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

4 components of personal growth

1) Paul wanted to know Jesus Christ better

2) Paul wanted to know the power of Jesus Christ’s resurrection better

3) Paul wanted to know the fellowship of Jesus Christ’s sufferings better

4) Paul wanted to become conformed to the death of Jesus Christ

Personal goals

What do you think is needed in your life this year to help you become more like Jesus Christ?

What changes do you need to make in your priorities in order to become more like Jesus Christ?

Are there attitudes or habits in your life for which you need Jesus’ strength to change?

How can you submit to Jesus to allow Him to work in these areas of your life?

Ministry goals

If you could choose a particular ministry for Jesus this year, what kind of service would most excite you? (where is your heart and passion?)

What spiritual gifts as Jesus given you to carry out that type of ministry?

What natural abilities has Jesus given you to carry out that type of ministry?

What components of your personality will help you carry out that type of ministry?

What life experiences has Jesus given you to prepare you for this type of ministry?

What things in your life are hindering or preventing you from carrying out this type ministry?

Ask Jesus the same two questions Paul asked in Acts 9:1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Who are You Lord?

What do You want me to do?

Do you know this song?

Open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus,
To reach out and touch Him, And say that I love Him.

Open my ears, Lord, And help me to listen,
Open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus.

Open my heart, Lord, That I might receive You,
Open my spirit, and teach me to worship.

Open my lips, Lord, and teach me to praise You,
Open my eyes, Lord, I want to see Jesus.

Our focus – Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Our challenge – Dearly Beloved,

Run with your eyes on Jesus alone!

Run in faith that Jesus loves you with an everlasting, unconditional love; has uniquely designed  and created only one you; has a good plan for your life; runs with you; and will  accomplish His purposes for you and through you!

Run in His strength alone!

Run with your eyes on the prize!

Run with your focus on His mission: to conform you to the image of Jesus Christ!

Run with the desire to finish strong!

Run with the desire to finish with your lamp burning!

Run to His glory alone!

Did Jesus claim to be God?

Voices in today’s marketplace of ideas insist that Jesus never claimed to be God, that He was not executed due to blasphemy and that the disciples made up this profession sometime after His death and resurrection. What is the Biblical record?

John records these occurrences, while Jesus was teaching in the temple at Jerusalem, sometime between the 2nd and 3rd Passover celebrations during His earthly ministry

John 8:48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? 49Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. 50And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. 51Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. 52Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? 54Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 26But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30I and my Father are one. 31Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

After Jesus was arrested what were the Jewish charges at His trial?

Matthew’s record = Matthew 26:56 fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.57And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. 59Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; 60But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, 61And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days. 62And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 63But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. 66What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

Mark’s record = Mark 14:53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. 54And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. 55And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. 56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. 57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. 59But neither so did their witness agree together. 60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

Luke’s record = Luke 22:63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.64And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. 66And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

Why then was Jesus crucified?

John 18:28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. 29Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? 30They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. 31Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: 32That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die. 33Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? 34Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? 35Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done? 36Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Questions for reflection

1) How can you use these accounts to refute those false voices?

2) Have you thanked Jesus today for taking on the robe of humanity, living a perfect life in your place and dying to be the perfect solution to your sin problem?

3) Do you really believe Jesus is God?

Do you know this song? He is Lord – Anonymous

1 He is Lord, He is Lord. He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Ev’ry knee shall bow, ev’ry tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

2 He is King, He is King. He will draw all nations to Him. He is King;

And the time shall be when the world shall sing that Jesus Christ is King!

3 He is love, He is love. He has shown us by His life that He is love

All His people sing with one voice of joy that Jesus Christ is love.

  1. He is life, He is life. He has died to set us free and He is life!

And He calls us all to live evermore. For Jesus Christ is life!

  1. You are Lord, You are Lord. You have risen from the dead and You are Lord.
Ev’ry knee shall bow, ev’ry tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Do you know this song? Tell It To Jesus Alone –Edmund Lorenz, 1880

Are you weary, are you heavy hearted? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus.
Are you grieving over joys departed? Tell it to Jesus alone.

Refrain:Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus, He is a Friend that’s well known.
You’ve no other such a friend or brother, Tell it to Jesus alone.

Do the tears flow down your cheeks unbidden? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus.
Have you sins that to men’s eyes are hidden? Tell it to Jesus alone.

Refrain

Do you fear the gathering clouds of sorrow? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus.
Are you anxious what shall be tomorrow? Tell it to Jesus alone.

Refrain

Are you troubled at the thought of dying? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus.
For Christ’s coming kingdom are you sighing? Tell it to Jesus alone.

Refrain

Run with the expectation of being in His physical presence when you cross your finish line!

Run to His glory alone!

How much does God love you?

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus Christ had a private conversation with God, the Father, His words are documented for us in the 17th chapter of John. Imagine! God, the Son, has a private conversation with God, the Father, and God wants us to know the contents! The disciples were nearby sleeping. They did not hear His words. Yet, these words are meant for you and I to know. Let’s look at His words about the Father’s love for you and me.

John 17:1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we receive the inheritance He bequeathed to us: knowledge of the One true God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. If you have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, you have knowledge to understand His words in this documentation.

God the Father loves you as much as He loves His Son, Jesus

23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

The Father loves you and me, the rebellious ones who are worthy of death and judgment, as much as He loves His Son, who took on Himself our judgment and death!

The Father and the Son abide in you and me that we may be made perfect.

Perfect = mature, competent

The Father and the Son abide in you and me that the world may know the Father loves you and me as much as He loves Jesus, His Son!

What do these words mean to you?

How can it be that Jesus thought about you and me when He was hours away from the crucifixion?

The Father’s love, from before the foundation of the world, abides in you and me

24Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

What does having the Father’s love abide in you mean to you?

What does having the Father love you mean to you?

Perhaps you have not received Jesus as Lord and Savior. You can change that now!

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

5 things wrong in our world

There are five things wrong in our world. I know you could probably give a larger list of things that are just not right in our world. But these five wrong things cause all other wrongs.

1) The King is out of place. The King is in rejection not on the throne

Psalm 110:1 (A Psalm of David.) The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

2) The devil is out of place. He is the prince of the power of the air not in the lake of fire.

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

3) The fallen angels are out of place.

Some are in chains while others serve satan. All fallen angels belong in the lake of fire

2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 6And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) 30And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

4) Israel is out of place. Israelites belong in the Promised Land

Ezekiel 36:20 And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land. 21But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went. 22Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went. 23And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. 24For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.25Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

5) The Church is out of place.

The Church is separated from her Bridegroom and not in the Father’s house.

John 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

It has been more than 2000 years since Jesus Christ defeated death and purchased our redemption at Calvary and ushered in this Age of Grace. Why then are these five wrongs not corrected?

2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Our Lord is not willing that any of us should perish. He wants everyone to come to repentance.

What does that mean to you?

Our focus – Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Grace and Peace Multiplied in our Lives -how?

Peter goes on to explain how that grace and peace from the knowledge of God and our Lord are multiplied in our lives. 2 Peter 1:1Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Notice the verb tense: ‘hath given’. It is not ‘He will give in the future’. Nor is it ‘He might give it’. Nor is it ‘you and I must earn it’.  It is a done deal. When you and I receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we receive His inheritance by His divine power.

How much of His grace is evidenced in your life?

How much grace have you asked of Him?

How much peace is in your life? Have you talked to Him about peace?

Notice His divine power also gives us all things pertaining to life and godliness. Not just somethings. Not just certain things. Not just a little bit. Everything pertaining to life and godliness has been given to us through His divine power.

What does that mean to you?

Is that a reason for specific praise?

Pertain = to belong or be connected as a part, adjunct, possession, or attribute.

Life = knowledge of God and Jesus Christ

Godliness = conforming to the laws and wishes of God

Glory = a state of absolute happiness, gratification, contentment,

Virtue = conformity of one’s life and conduct to moral and ethical principles; uprightness; rectitude

Our earthly inheritance bequeaths to us the knowledge of the One true God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. That personal knowledge of Him and personal on-going relationship with Him enables us to understand His Word, how He wants us to live our lives; and grow in our understanding of Him as we experience events in our lives together with Him.

You and I possess everything pertaining to life. What does that mean to you?

You and I possess everything pertaining to godliness. What does that mean to you?

You and I have been called to glory. How content are you with your circumstances?

These questions are hard, I know. But remember the new life in Christ is a growing life. Even Paul proclaimed he had not yet arrived. Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

So let’s not focus on our past nor on our mistakes but let’s press forward, seeking to claim this earthly inheritance Jesus Christ bequeathed to us, looking at the prize.

Our earthly inheritance: Grace and Peace

In this series we have been examining the components of our earthly inheritance: what Jesus bequeaths to us through His death and resurrection. We have an inheritance laid up for us in Heaven and it cannot be stolen or fade away. But our earthly inheritance must be claimed to enable living life on earth in victory over sin and our enemy. The enemy desires to kill our joy, steal our inheritance, ruin our testimony and take others down with us. The component of our earthly inheritance we continue to examine today is knowledge of the one true God and Jesus Christ.

When Jesus prayed to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane He explained eternal life.

Peter expands on that concept of eternal life. 2 Peter 1:1Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

First let’s reflect on Who Jesus Christ is and what He has done for us.

Jesus is the One true God. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Jesus is our Creator. Jesus is Messiah, our Savior, our Redeemer, the Captain of our salvation, our Bridegroom. Jesus has a specific good plan for each of our lives. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Jesus is all powerful, all knowing, infinite, the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus is the Judge and our Mediator.

What else do you know about Jesus?

What have you learned recently about Jesus from your relationship with Him?

How much time do you share each day with Jesus?

Next, let’s look at who you and I are in Jesus.

We are sinners saved by His grace and His sacrificial death and His victorious resurrection because He loves us. We are His servants with free will. We are His new creation, created unto good works which He has ordained for us to accomplish through Him. We are His sheep and we know His voice as He provides, protects, directs and corrects us. We are destined to share eternity in His presence. For now we still have a sinful, rebellious nature. We make mistakes. We sin against His authority. But Jesus has a remedy and will forgive when we confess to Him.

Grace = God giving us what we do not earn or deserve

Peace =state of harmony between God and you

How can grace and peace be multiplied through the knowledge of God?

As we realize His grace is sufficient for all our needs, let’s ask Him more often for that grace.

Do you ask Jesus for more grace or do you just expect it?

Do you need His grace to forgive someone?

Do you need His grace to take the next step?

Do you need His grace to wait patiently for His solution?

Do you need His grace to wait for His answer to prayer?

Each of us has done things contrary to God. Each of us has sinned.

What does peace with the Judge mean to you?

Our focus – Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
